Five states' poll dates to be announced today

New Delhi: The Election Commission (EC) will announce Saturday the schedule for assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa which are likely to be held early next year, an official said.

"The dates will be announced at 4.30 p.m.," the official said.

The EC has discussed the security arrangements with the union home ministry.
