Explosion in Israel kills three

Friday June 17, 2011 09:30:32 AM, IANS

Jerusalem: At least three people were killed and over 10 suffered injuries late Thursday night in an explosion in a central Israeli city, Xinhua reported Friday.

The powerful blast, which occurred at a building in Netanya city, also left dozens of people trapped.

The cause of the explosion could not be known initially.

Officials stated the possibility of a gas leak but said it was not likely that the explosion was a bomb attack.

Meanwhile, police were searching for a car and two people who were seen leaving the scene shortly after the explosion, according to the local Ynet news service.
