Malegaon blast

Malegaon:
In a scathing reaction on the reported statement of the special public prosecutor in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, Rohini Salian, the Kul Jamaati Tanzeem Thursday said the Modi government is trying to protect the Hindu terrorists and is working against the national interest.

At the same time, the NGO, formed after the 2006 Malegaon blast, vowed to fight till the Muslim accused framed in the case get justice.

"If what Rohini Salian has said is true, and there is no reason to doubt her statement, then it means that ignoring the national interests, the Modi government is trying to protect the real terrorists", Abdul Hameed Azhari, one of the founder members of the Kul Jamaati Tanzeem, said while talking to ummid.com.

Azhari was reacting to Rohini Salian's reported statement published in the media that since the Narendra Modi led NDA government came to power, she was asked to go "soft" on the accused in the case by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Salian said that soon after the NDA government came to power, she got a call from an NIA officer who asked to meet her, and did not want to talk over the phone. “He came and said to me that there is a message that I should go soft,” Salian told The Indian Express.

Six people were killed and 79 injured in September, 2008 when blasts went off in Malegaon, a predominantly Muslim town during the month of Ramadan. Investigations linked the blasts to Hindu terror suspects and 12 people were arrested, including Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur and Colonel Prasad Shrikant Purohit.

According to Salian, on June 12, just before one of the regular hearings on the case in the Sessions Court, the same NIA officer informed her that “higher-ups” did not want her to appear in the court for the State of Maharashtra. He said that another advocate would attend the court proceedings.

"The meaning (of the message from the government) is very clear — don’t get us favourable orders. Unfavourable orders are invited — that goes against the society,” Salian told The Indian Express.

Azhari said Narendra Modi who never forgets to repeat 'Sab Ka Saath Sab ka Vikaas' mantra, instead of helping the Muslim accused implicated in 2006 blast is working to sabotage the judicial system.

"The same NIA had given the clean chit to the Muslim accused arrested in the 2006 blast case. But, the government instead of speeding up the judicial process so that these inncoents get justice, are creating hurdles. Is the government working in national interests, the BJP and prime minister Modi always boast of?" he asked.

The Congress party too criticised Congress the government accusing it of imposing an "undeclared emergency" in the country.anniversary.

Latching on to media reports about Rohini Salian, Special Public Prosecutor in the case related to 2008 Malegaon blasts saying that she was under pressure from NIA to go soft in the case since the new government came to power, Congress spokesperson Shobha Oza's said this shows a form of "undeclared emergency".

"The lawyer in case of investigation in Malegaon blast has been asked to take a soft stand and the works of NIA officials reveal the same. This shows a form of undeclared emergency."
