CBSE releases passing criteria for Class X students of 2019 batch

CBSE Class X Passing Criteria 2019

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Thursday released on its website cbse.nic.in the passing criteria for Class X students of 2019 batch saying it will go with the same criteria adopted for the 2018 CBSE Class X exams.

The CBSE Class X exams are scheduled to be held in March/April 2019.

"As per the criteria adopted by the CBSE for computing the result of Class X in 2018, all candidates who had appeared in the exam as per the scheme of studies were exempted from separate pass criteria in internal assessment and board examination", Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj, Controller of Examination, said on Thursday.

"The result was computed in each subject taking into account combined marks obtained in internal assessment and board exam, and those who secured 33% marks were declared pass in that subject", Bhardwaj said.

"In case of a candidate being absent in Practical/Internal assessment, the marks were treated as 0 (zero) and result was computed accordingly", he added.

"It has now been decided to extend the same passing criteria henceforth for the students of secondary classes i.e. candidates appearing for Class X examination in 2019 onwards will have to secure overall 33% (both taken together) in the subjects to be eligible to pass that subject", he said.

The CBSE had earlier released the list of Vocational and Core Academic subjects for Class 10 and Class 12 students for the examination which is scheduled to be held in February and March/April 2019. The CBSE Class X and Class XII 2019 date sheet is expected to be relased soon.
