In his keynote address in a seminar on ‘Role of Muslim Women in Eradicating AIDS’ held here in Ghalib Academy, Prof. Akhtarul Wasey said, “The target of Islamic teachings is eradication of poverty, ignorance and health damaging elements. Therefore, today it is needed that the morals of the Chosen Prophet (S.A.W.) are presented before the masses prior to any call for establishing Nizam-e-Mustafa.” Coming to the topic, he said complete control over AIDS is possible by adopting Islamic teachings because Islam completely abolishes sexual perversions that are the greatest cause of spread of this killer disease.

In his presidential address, president of Lucknow’s Foundation for Social Care Maulana Zaher Ahmad Siddiqui said besides being a medical tragedy, AIDS is also a social tragedy that is destroying lacs of families as result of which women are becoming widows and children are turning into orphans. The irony is that the treatment given to AIDS patients is even more frightening. He said Islam has not only stressed on Nikah (proper marital tie) but also made it easier so that a man could fulfill his sex needs in a decent way. Earlier, UNESCO expert on AIDS DR. Shankar Chaudhary offered full guidance on the disease to the young generation, saying that before quenching their sexual urge blindly following their wishes, they should consider what folly they are going to commit. The program started with welcome speech by its convener Abdur Rashid Agwan, who explained that the purpose of this program is to create AIDS awareness among those young men who are already suffering from this disease.
