Prime Minister said it not correct to target Muslim youths on pretext of terrorism and he will talk to the chief ministers of those states where such things are happening. He said for the integration of the country, it is their first priority to ensure progress of Muslim community as well as availability of equal opportunities. He told that large scale operations have been started for progress of Muslims after Sachar Committee report and in this connection, preference is now being given to Muslims in employment in security agencies and armed forces of the country.
The delegation comprising leaders of various Muslim organizations today met with the prime minister in the leadership of the president of Jamiat Ulama Hind (M) Qari Mohammad Usman Mansoorpuri. The delegation attracted prime minister’s attention toward harassment of Muslims by exploiting terrorism related laws as well as toward economic and commercial problems confronting them.
Concern has been expressed in the memorandum presented to the prime minister character assassination of Muslims in name of terrorism that has been done by certain sections of intelligence and media is worrisome and deplorable. Blameless people are picked up for baseless criminal allegations and such stories are propagated in the media even in primary stages that drags entire Millat in the ambit of doubts. The delegation said, “The situation has worsened so much that even the opportunity of legal defence is not available to them.” Muslims have reiterated time and again that Islam does not allow terrorism in any case and the people involved in terrorism do not profess any religion. In spite of all this, the succession of associating Islam and Muslims with terrorism continues. The delegation demanded the prime minister to instruct the honourable union home minister to not harass Muslims.
Referring to the steps taken under action on Sachar Committee report, the delegation demanded reservation for Muslims by including them in OBC category. Similarly, allow reservations for concerned Muslims by removing the condition of religion from article 341 of the Constitution. The delegation explicitly demanded to place Ranga Nath Mishra Commission Report in parliament and implement its recommendations immediately. They also demanded immediate implementation of Sri Krishna Commission in order to fetch relief to people affected by Mumbai riots. Regarding Wakf properties, the delegation demanded to immediately hand over the Wakf properties under government’s control to concerned Wakf Boards or, alternatively, fix their rents according to prevailing market rates. Finally, the delegation demanded opening the Mosques in custody of archeological department for common Namazis.
