Gaza: Turkey's Ministry of Religious Affairs, in collaboration with the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), sponsored on Sunday the largest mass wedding of 4000 Palestinian brides and grooms in the Gaza Strip.
Bulent Korkmaz, Chief Representative of TIKA, expressed his joy and happiness about the mass wedding ceremony, stressing the support of 70 million Turks along with their government for this great event.
“The Republic of Turkey will always stand by the people of Gaza and will uninterruptedly continue to support them," said Korkmaz, recalling the 10 Turkish martyrs of the Freedom Flotilla, on the 5th anniversary when they sought to break the maritime siege of the Gaza Strip.
The mass wedding ceremony was held in conjunction with the 5th anniversary of the deadly attack by Israeli navy on Mavi Marmara ship in international waters of the Mediterranean Sea while on its way to break the siege of the Gaza Strip in May 2015.
The Israeli forces fired live bullets and tear gas canisters against more than 500 activists who were on board the ship, most of them Turks, killing ten activists and wounding 50 others.
