Jalgaon (Maharashtra): Shiv Sena MLA from Jalgaon Rural Gulabrao Patil was on Thursday arrested in connection with a case of alleged forgery. Patil is considered as staunch rival of Maharashtra's former revenue minister Eknath Khadse. Both are from the same region.
Patil, who had surrendered before a local court in Jalgaon, was also sent to one-day police custody. He surrendered in a case pertaining to wrongfully transferring a school land into his name by forging signatures.
It is reported that the school was established in 1991 and is located in Dharnagaon Taluka of Jalgaon district. The complaint was filed by Arjun Patil at MIDC Police Station.
The Shiv Sena legislator is known for his aggressive-fiery speeches and stands on farmer issues in Assembly as well as outside of the house.
Patil was not having good relations with Eknath Khadse and had said that he would raise the issue of alleged corruption of Khadse in the coming monsoon session of Maharashtra Assembly, according to ANI.
In political circle, it is being said that this arrest may fuel the unrest between Shiv Sena and BJP in Maharashtra.
