New Delhi: Commenting on the Supreme Court ruling ro revive conspiracy charges against LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Uma Bharti and other Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders, Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi called demolition of Babri Masjid a "nation's shame".
He also said that those involved in the shameful demolition of the 17th century historic mosque are ruling the country.
"Demolition of Babri Masjid is a Nation's Shame. People responsible for this shame are now running the Nation", Asaduddin Owaisi, the Chief of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) said in a series of tweets posted after the Supreme Court order..
"Now Supreme Court has said Conspiracy charge added against accused... Will Padma Vibhushan be taken back from Accused", he said in another tweet.
Asaduddin Owaisi also asked the government to remove Kalyan Singh as governor and let him face the trial.
"Will Kalyan Singh resign and face trial or hide behind cover of being Governor... Will Modi govt remove him in Interest of Justice I doubt", Owaisi said.
Meanwhile, RJD Supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav on Wednesday said that the restoration of conspiracy charges against BJP leader LK Advani and others in the Babri Masjid demolition case is a conspiracy by Prime Minister Modi and RSS to stop him from becoming President of India.
Lalu alleged that with the help of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Modi and the RSS leadership have clipped the wings of Advani, whose name was in the running for the next President.
"The CBI, which is in the hands of Narendra Modi, told the Supreme Court that a criminal conspiracy case should be initiated against Advani and others, then, what should the Supreme Court do," asked the RJD leader.
"The BJP and VHP are so dangerous that they don’t even care about their own people", Lalu alleged.
Recalling how Advani supported Modi after the 2002 Gujarat riots, Lalu Yadav said it was because of Advani Modi has become Prime Minister.
"It was only Lal Krishna Advani who had supported Narendra Modi after the Guajrat riots after then Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee had said that 'Rajdharam was not followed' in Gujarat," said Lalu.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday revived the criminal conspiracy charges against senior BJP leaders like Lal Krishna Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Uma Bharti in the Babri Masjid Demolition case.
Kalyan Singh, who was Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh when the Babri Masjid was demolished on December 06, 1992, is currently the Governor of Rajasthan and cannot be prosecuted while in office. His trial will begin after his term ends, the Supreme Court ruled.
LK Advani along with other BJP and VHP leaders like Murli Manohar Joshi and Uma Bharti is accused of making inflammatory speeches that motivated lakhs of right-wing volunteers or karsevaks to demolish the historic mosque. That trial was being held in Rae Bareli.
Now, the BJP leaders, facing far more serious charges, will be tried in Lucknow, where, so far, a separate case is dealing with about 20 people accused of the actual demolition of the mosque. By combining the two trials, the judges want to ensure that a verdict is delivered within two years.
The bench also directed that its order should be followed in letter and spirit and granted liberty to the parties to approach it if its directions are not followed.
There were two sets of cases relating to the demolition of the disputed structure on December 6, 1992. The first involved unnamed 'karsevaks', the trial of which is taking place in a Lucknow court, while the second set of cases relate to the leaders in a Raebareli court.
