Kochi:
Mocking the Bhartiya Janata Party's claim that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the man who made Kochi Metro a reality, a Congress worker published on his twitter handler a series of photos showing former prime minister Manmohan Singh laying the foundation stone of the project.

Congress worker Rachit Seth also claimed that the UPA led by Dr Manmohan Singh was responsible for introducing Metro trains in India and Dr Manmohan Singh is tha man who made Kochi Metro a reality not, Modi as claimed by the BJP.

Rachit Seth's tweets were soon went viral after it were retweeted by Indian National Congress.

Rachit Seth then came with another tweet listing the names of cities where Metro trains were built during UPA tenure.

The Twitter war did not end here. INC came with another tweet accusing yet again that "Modi ji just cut ribbons"

The Kochi Metro was flagged off by Prime Minister Modi on Saturday. Ahead of the inaugural ceremony, Kerala BJP had put huge hoardings praising Modi.

"Kochi Metro Yadharthyamaakiya Pradhanamantri Narendra Modikku Abhivadyangal” (Salutations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who made Kochi Metro a Reality”), one hoarding said.

The Congress - BJP Twitter war also attracted the FactChecker and it came with the entire fact sheet of the Kochi Metor project.

"The project was approved during the second term of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government led by former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh from May 2009 to May 2014. The foundation stone of the Kochi Metro was laid by Dr Singh on September 13, 2012", it said in a report built on Rachit Seth's tweets.

"The Kochi Metro is estimated to cost Rs 5,181.79 crore. It is being built by the Kochi Metro Rail Ltd, a special purpose vehicle of the central and state governments, equally owned by both", it added.
