Aligarh: Team Vajra, a group of five students from Zakir Husain College of Engineering and Technology (ZHCET) Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), led by Harshit Varshney, (coordinator AMURoboclub), secured third place at the national level event "Techniche-2018" organized by IIT Guwahati.
AMU's Team Vajra was awarded a cash prize of Rs 15,000 along with medals and certificates. Two teams of AMU Roboclub (ZHCET), Vajra and Innovative Zaks, participated for the first time in a technical national level event "Techniche-2018" organized by IIT Guwahati.
After three steps of short listing: including submission of technical abstract, design of CAD model and finally the fabrication of bots, 12 best teams were selected for the main event. It was one of the most challenging events of the competition.
It was preparation of two-months for team members who participated in the event and finished with AIR-3 and won the cash prize worth of 15.2k.
Another team, Innovative Zaks, a group of four students of AMURoboclub, made "Automatic Lighting and Accident Detection System" to solve one of the most challenging problem of traffic regulation to avoid the traffic accidents. Team submitted their idea to Techniche-2018 and got selected as finalist among hundreds of teams.
During the four days of tough competition, team members also interacted with Dr. Michael Barratt (NASA Astronaut), Dr. Murzy Jhabvala (System engineer at NASA) and Dr. Gautam Biswas (Director IITG), who appreciated the projects made by the team members.
Prof. M. M. Sufyan Beg, Principal ZHCET and faculty advisors of AMURoboclub congratulated the team members for their achievements.
The fabrication cost of robots, and travel costs of students were partially funded by TEQIP-III.Ahmadi School organises cultural activities to host UGC HRD Center Orientation Program participants.
