Eid al Adha 2024 Moon Sighting Live Updates: Muslims in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and other South Asian countries will celebrate Eid al Adha (Bakra Eid) on Monday June 17, 2024, it is officially confirmed by the concerned authorities in these countries.

Meanwhile, Muslims in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Palestine and other Arab countries are celebrating Eid al Adha on Sunday June 16, 2024.

Videos shared on social media showed, Palestinians offering Eid al Adha prayers amid the bombings by the Israeli Zionist force in Gaza Strip.

Another video posted online showed Israeli occupation forces assaulting Palestinians in Jerusalem's Old City this morning and preventing them from reaching the al Aqsa mosque to pray Eid prayers.

10:45 PM: The new moon of the holy month of Dhul Hijjah 1445 H is sighted in India and Pakistan. Accordingly, Eid al Adha will be celebrated in the two countries on Monday June 17, 2024, it is officially announced a little while ago.

Markazi Ruyat e Hilal Committee under Imarat e Shariah al Hind, New Delhi, India and The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Pakistan in two separate statements confirmed the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah 1445 H moon in various parts of the two countries.

“The holy month of Dhul Hijjah starts on Saturday June 08, 2024. Accordingly, Eid al Adha will be celebrated here on Monday June 17, 2024”, the statement said.

The Saudi Royal Court had announced yesterday that Eid al Adha will be celebrated in the Kingdom on Sunday June 16, 2024. It also said Hajj 2024 (Arafat Day 2024. will be on Saturday June 15, 2024.

08:45 PM: The Dhul Hjjah moon has been sighted in Peshawar, Pakistan, the Zonal Sighting of the Crescent Committee during their meeting on Friday, according to SAMAA TV.

Dhul Hijjah moon is also seen in Quetta.

There are also reports of Moon sighting from different parts of India.

A formal announcement by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Pakistan and Markazi Riyate Hilal Committe New Delhi India is still awaited.

08:15 PM: Makazi Ruyat e Hilal Committee, Imarat e Shariah in New Delhi, India is busy in a meeting to analyse and confirm the sighting of Dhul Hijjah 1445 AH Moon.

An official announcement to follow any moment.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Pakistan and Religious Affairs Ministry in Bangladesh have also begun the meeting to analyse and confirm the moon of Zil Hajj in Karachi and Dhaka as the people across the two countries gear up for Eid ul Adha. 

Markazi Ruyat e Helal Committee Hyderabad Deccan in India has aleady confirmed the sighting of Moon in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

07:50 PM: Markazi Ruyat e Helal Committee Hyderabad Deccan has confirmed the sighting of Dhul Hijjah 1445 Moon.

"The new moon of the month Dhul Hijjah has spotted. Accordingly, Eid al Adha will be celebrated on Monday June 17, 2024", a statement released by Syed Shah Hasan Ibrahim, said.

Official confirmation from Delhi and other parts of India is still awaited.

Bangladesh has also so far not confirme the sighting of Dhul Hijjah moon in the country.

On the other hand, Markazi Ruyat e Hilal Committee in Pakistan is set to meet soon to confirm the exact date of Eid al Adha.

05:00 PM: The Ruyat e Hilal Committees and religious authorities in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal and other South Asian countries will meet today after Maghreb salah to confirm the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah 1445 H moon in the respective countries.

Eid al Adha, celebrated on 10th of Dhul Hijjah, will be on Monday June 17, 2024 if the moon is sighted today. Else, the festival of sacrifice will be advanced to the next day.

Announcement of the moon sighting will come from Bangladesh and Nepal first followed by India and Pakistan.

01:45 AM: Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committees or Moon Sighting Committees in India, Pakistan and and Religious Affairs Ministry Bangladesh have appealed Muslims in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Islamabad, Lahore, Dhaka and other parts of the countries to sight the new moon today i.e. Friday 29th of Dhulka'edah 1445 AH corresponding to June 07, 2025 to confirm the first day of Eid al Adha 1445 H.

Eid al Adha (also known as Bakra Eid, Eid uz Zuha in India, Pakistan and Bangladesh and around) is celebrated on 10th of Dhul Hijjah - the last month of the Islamic Calendar.

Moon Sighting Committees in the three countries will meet today after Maghreb prayers. Official announcement will then be made by Markazi Ruyat-e-Hilal Committees in the respective countries.

Eid al Adha will be celebrated in India and Bangaldesh on Monday June 17, 2024 if the New Moon is sighted today. Else, the festival will be pushed to the next day i.e. Tuesday June 18, 2024.

Similarly, a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee Bangladesh will be held at the Islamic Foundation office at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in Dhaka. The meeting will be chaired by State Minister for Religious Affairs.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Pakistan will also meet today (Friday) to sight the Zil Hajj moon. The Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony Pakistan in a statement said the committee would meet under the chairmanship of its chairman, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad.

Saudi Arabia, other Arab states to Celebrate Eid al Adha on June 16

Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, Palestine and other Arab states will celebrate Eid al Adha on Sunday June 16, 2024. This was confirmed by the Saudi Supreme Court. The announcement was made after Eid al Adha Moon was spotted in many parts of the Kingdom.

While confirming Sunday June 16, 2024 as the first day of Eid al Adha in the Kingdom, Saudi Arabia also said Day of Arafat (Youm ul Hajj) will be on Saturday June 15, 2024.

Australian National Imams Council (ANIC) and Muslim Association of Canada (MAC) will also confirm Friday when Eid al Adha will be celebrated in Australia and Canada.

Similarly, Muslims in the United States (USA), United Kingdom (UK), New Zealand, Russia, France, Germany and other countries too will celebrate Eid al Adha either on Sunday June 16, 2024 or Monday June 17, 2024.

Muslims in Indonesia, Malayasia, Singapore, Hong Kong and Brunei will also decide the first day of Eid Al Adha 1445 H today i.e. Friday.
