UPSC Civil Services Prelim 2023 Answer Key released

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2023 official answer keys on its website upsc.gov.in.

New Delhi: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the Civil Services Preliminary Examination 2023 official answer keys on its website upsc.gov.in.

The UPSC had conducted Civil Services Prelims 2023 on May 28, 2023. It announced the results on June 12, 2023.

The UPSC Civil Services Prelim exam was followed by Civil Services Main exams and Personal Tests.

The commission releases the Civil Services Prelim Answer Keys after the UPSC Civil Services Final result is declared, and not after the CS Prelim exams.

The 2023 Civil Services Final Result was announced on April 16, 2024. Accordingly, the commission released the Civil Services Prelims Answer Keys on May 09, 2024.

How to check UPSC Prelims Answer Key

• Visit the official website of UPSC: upsc.gov.in
• On the homepage, click on Examination menu
• Under the Examination menu on home page, click on Answer Keys
• Click on General Studies 1 or General Studies 2 to download answer keys

The commission has published on its official website UPSC Prelim 2023 answer keys in two PDF files - General Studies I (Paper I) and General Studies II (Paper II).

There were a total of 100 questions carrying a total of 200 marks in General Studies 1. Candidates should note that the Commission has dropped one question from each series of General Studies 1.

General Studies 2 comprised a total of 80 questions with a maximum of 200 marks. There was negative marking in the exam.

Earlier, a petition was filed in the Supreme Court of India asking the UPSC to release the Civil Services Prelims Answer Key immediately after the exam. The apex court however had dismissed the petition as withdrawn.
