An image of “Sarah Ahronot” is dotting social media space ever since Friday June 13, 2025 when Iran claimed shooting down Israeli F 35 fighter jets and capturing its pilot.
The Iranian Armed Forces have officially claimed shooting down three F35 fifth generation fighter planes.
“Iranian air defenses had taken down a third Israeli F-35 stealth jet, following the destruction of two other jets the previous night”, Iranian Army’s Public Relations Office announced Saturday June 14, 2025.
“This makes Iran the first country in the world to shoot down a fifth-generation stealth fighter, 14 years after it famously downed an American RQ-170 Sentinel reconnaissance drone”, the Iranian Army said.
The F-35 fighters represent the most advanced aircraft in the Israeli Air Force, outclassing older, non-stealth F-15 and F-16 jets by a full generation. These jets were acquired from the United States, with the F-35 Lightning II manufactured by Lockheed Martin.
The official Press TV in a report said the Israeli F-35s were intercepted by Iran’s Bavar-373, a long-range surface-to-air missile (SAM) system designed to counter aircraft, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles.
Neither the Iranian Army nor the official media has given full details about capturing the Israeli pilots and their identities.
However, social media users are wildly sharing an image claiming to be of “Sarah Ahronot” the “Israeli F-35 fighter jet pilot” captured by the Iranian Army.
A fact check analysis of the image viral on different social media platforms including X, Facebook and Instagram, revealed that the image passed as that of “Sarah Ahronot” is actually of Chilean female aviator Daniela Figueroa Scholz.
Daniela Figueroa Scholz had hit the headlines back in December 2021 when she became the first female aviator in the history of the Chilean Navy.
The image of Daniela Figueroa Scholz posing with an Embraer EMB-111 flag of the Chilean Navy is falsely shared claiming her to be Israeli F-35 pilot “Sarah Ahronot”.
The scale of disinformation does not end here. There is no confirmation from any credible sources if there exists any Israeli pilot named “Sarah Ahronot”.
It means if at all the Iranian Army has apprehended any of the Israeli pilots, her name is not “Sarah Ahronot”.
Meanwhile, the Israeli army had initially denied the reports of its F-35 fighter jets being shot down by Iran when the latter made the first claim.
However, the Israeli Occupation Forces (IDF) is maintaing a guarded silence after the Iranian Army claimed shooting down two more F-35 fighter jets.
The Israeli denial is “obvious” as the Israeli Occupation Forces (IDF) and the Zionist regime are “notorious” for hiding their losses – military or civilians, during wars and conflicts.
