Mumbai: The Haj Committee of India on Wednesday extended the last date of application for Hajj 2019 up to December 19, 2018, it said in an official notification. The last date of application for Haj 2019 was earlier fixed as November 17. It was later extended up to December 12, 2018.
"The closing date for both online and manual submission of Haj Application Forms was extended to 12th December, 2018. In view of the representations received from several State Haj Committees, the last date for submission of Haj Application Forms by the intending pilgrims is again extended up to 19th December, 2018", the Haj Committee of India notification, dated December 12, 2018, said.
Consequently, applicants possessing of machine readable valid Indian International passports issued on or before 19th December, 2018 and valid upto 31st January, 2020 will be eligible to apply for Haj - 2019", it added.
Muslims planning to apply for Hajj 2019 through Haj Committee of India can follow the steps given below.
Pilgrims should note that along with Haj Application Form (HAF) pilgrims should also submit a copy of passport valid till January 31, 2020.
The Haj Committee of India had earlier published on its website hajcommittee.gov.in the Haj 2019 Action Plan giving the entire schedule of Haj 2019 Application, Qurrah dates, dates of making payments, finalisation of Haj embarkation points and schedule of inbound and outbound Haj flights.
According to the Haj 2019 Action Plan, the Haj Committee of India started receiving from Thursday October 18, 2018 the Haj Application Form (HAF) from the applicants. The duly filled Haj Application Form (HAF) with all requisite documents, copies of passport and DD of advance payment as per the revised schedule should be submitted on or before December 19, 2018, as per the new deadline.
Coinciding with Eid al Adha, Haj is the annual ritual to commemorate the sacrifices made by Prophet Ibrahim, his wife Hager and their son Prophet Ismael. The likely date of Wuqoof e Arafat - the key ritual of the Hajj, is August 09 or 10. As the Islamic calendar is based on sighting of moon, the final date will be decided once the new moon of the month of Dhul Hijjah is sighted.
Since a large number of Muslims wish to perform every year, the Saudi government has in order to control overcrowding has fixed quota for every country based on their Muslim population.
India has been allotted a quota of 175,025 pilgrims. However, number of applications received from Muslims aspiring for Haj travel exceeds the allotted quota. Hence Haj Committee of India conducts Qurrah or Draw of Lots to finalise the list of Muslims performing Hajj.
According to Haj 2019 Action Plan, the Haj Committee of India will conduct the Qurrah or Draw of Lots in the last week of December, 2018. The Qurrah will be fully computerised and will be held at respective State Haj Committee headquarters.
Haj 2019 applicants should note that the last date to submit Advance Haj amount by the selected pilgrims is first week of January 2019. Last date of submission of PP/Pay-in-Slip of Advance Haj amount/medical certidicate is January 15, 2019.
The Haj Committee of India further said that it will finalise Haj Embarkation points in October 2018 and agreement with Airlines will be signed in the last week of January, 2019.
The first outbound flight for Haj 2019 will depart from India on July 01, 2019. The last outbound Haj 2019 flight will be on August 03, 2019. The first inbound Haj flight from Saudi Arabia to India will be on August 14, 2019.
"The detailed Haj 2019 flight schedule with cover number of selected pilgrims will be released later on", the Haj Committee of India said.
The Haj Committee of India after completing Qurrah will release the Haj 2019 waiting list on February 05, 2019. The pilgrims whose names are in the Haj 2019 waiting list will be given a chance against cancellation of pilgrims who are unable to make the payment or cancel their Haj travel due to some other reason.
Pilgrims can also get from Haj Committee of India Mumbai office or from State Haj Committees a booklet containing all details regarding Haj 2019.
"A booklet containing guidelines and instructions of Haj 2019 is provided free of cost", the committee said.
