Egypt court orders Mubarak's release in graft case
Wednesday August 21, 2013 7:55 PM, IANS

An Egypt court Wednesday ordered the release of former president Hosni Mubarak in his last corruption case.

Mubarak and his two sons were charged with misusing power and accepting gifts from Ahram institution via his information minister, Xinhua reported citing Hayat channel.

Hosni Mubarak's lawyer, Farid al-Deeb, said his client would pay back the money equivalent to the value of the gifts and that he was confident the ex-president would be released.

"Mubarak will be freed unless he is charged of other crimes," legal expert Aly Mashallah said.

The Cairo criminal court had Monday ordered the release of Mubarak over charges of looting funds allocated for maintaining the presidential palaces.
