Paralysed man explodes bomb at Beijing airport
Sunday July 21, 2013 0:22 AM, IANS

A wheelchair-bound paralysed man set off a home-made explosive Saturday evening near the exit of a terminal of the Beijing Capital International Airport and was himself injured, police said.

Ji Zhongxing, 43, a resident of east China's Shandong province, set off the bomb outside the exit of Terminal 3 around 6.24 p.m., reported Xinhua, quoting an initial police investigation.

Ji was himself wounded in the arm and is currently under treatment, police said. No one other than Ji was injured.

The device, like fireworks, was detonated after Ji was stopped from handing out leaflets to get attention to his complaints, according to the probe.

Ji once worked in the southern province of Guangdong and has been petitioning for more than 10 years over alleged unjust treatment which resulted in his paralysis, police investigation showed.

The operations at the airport were not been affected as the airport opened new exits for passengers, the airport said.
