Malegaon: In a remarkable achievement, local medical practitioner Dr. Faizee AbdulWakeel came second in the merit list (OBC General Category) of the successful candidates who had appeared for the Maharashtra Public Health Department Recruitment 2013 exams held in October last for the post of Medical Officer.
Dr. Faizee AbdulWakeel, who has cleared the prestigious exam in his third attempt, scored 71.97% marks – just 0.31% less than the top scorer Agalawe Manoj Balkrishna who has scored 72.28% marks.
The results of the exams, held to fill a total of 1881 vacancies in the entire state, were announced Wednesday evening.
Dr. Faizee AbdulWakeel is working as Medical Officer on contract basis since 2008 and is currently posted at the government hospital in Nampur. He was trying to convert his temporary job into a permanent one but was failing because of various reasons.
But now since he has cleared the coveted exam there is a very strong possibility that he will now become a permanent member of the Maharashtra state's Public Health Department.
Dr. Faizee AbdulWakeel had completed MBBS from Parvaranagar Medical College, and had been associated with quite a few reputed hospitals.
The soft-spoken Dr. Faizee AbdulWakeel is known in Malegaon for his eagerness to help the needy, especially the poor, in major surgeries.
As medical officer too he tried to provide the medical aid considered impossible in rural areas by utilizing the limited resources in hand.
