In a strong appeal made in the Indian Parliament, Asaduddin Owaisi, a member from Hyderabad and president of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Tuesday urged the Indian government to cut all diplomatic ties with Israel and send a mission to Gaza to help Palestinian victims of the barbaric killing.

"I urge the Indian government to break all diplomatic ties with Israel to regitser its outrage over the killing of innocent Palestinians in Gaza. It will send a strong signal to other West Asian countries", Asaduddin Owaisi said while participating in the debate over the issue in the Lok Sabha Tuesday.

Stating that India had always stood for the Palestinian cause and it is the time to show solidarity with the innocent victims.

"We should send our own mission with all support and medical aid to Gaza to help the victims many of whom are children", he said.

Owaisi also supported the demand to pass a resolution condemning the Zionist state. The government however rejected the demand.

Later, members belonging to the Congress, Trinamool Congress and People's Democratic Party (PDP) staged walkout after the government said it has no intention of bringing a resolution to condemn the Israeli raids.

Reacting to the demand, Parliamentary Affairs Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu said: "I have noted the views expressed by the members."

"Domestic politics should not affect our foreign policy," he said, adding the matter is "highly sensitive" and "any move by the government should not have any implications".

Unhappy over the government's response, members of the Congress staged a walkout followed by the Trinamool Congress and the PDP members.

Since July 8, Israel has been engaged in a large-scale aerial operation in the Gaza Strip, where Israeli war jets have carried out hundreds of intensive strikes killing at least 187 people, wounded 1,390 and destroyed more than 250 houses.

There have been protests against the Israeli attack in various Indian cities, including Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad and Srinagar.
