Kuala Lumpur: Songstress Ziana Zain, a Malaysian pop singer-songwriter, model, entrepreneur and actress, has joined a long list of female artistes to wear the hijab.
Ziana, whose full name is Siti Roziana Zain, decided to make the change on Nuzul Quran - the 27th night of Ramadan, which fell on Thursday, reported Kosmo!
“I am grateful to Allah for opening up my heart to wear the hijab. This is the best gift from the Almighty to me,” she said.
She first emerged with the new image during the taping of Hari Raya entertainment programme MeleTOP Raya, at which she shared her newly-found contentment with Murai:
The 46-year-old singer was grateful to have the support of her husband, children, parents and fans.
Taking the local music scene by storm in the early `90s, Ziana captivated fans with her signature single, Madah Berhelah.
Since then, there was no turning back for the singer, who mesmerised the music scene with hits like Anggapanmu, Setia Ku Di Sini and Puncak Kasih.
Her talent was established internationally when she was crowned Voice Of Asia in Kazakhstan in 1995.
Previously, Ziana had shared a photograph of her wearing a tudung on her Instagram@iamzianazain.
However, she later explained that she was not ready for the change and wore the hijab only when sending her children for their religious classes.
