"The MIM Nagpur unit will run operations from its office near Rani Durgavati Chowk", MIM observer Abdul Haq Nazim said while launching the party in Nagpur.

He also announced the local unit's governing body which has Mohammad Salim as president and Shakeel Patel as party spokesperson.

He said the MIM is also planning to open offices in nearby districts Amravati and Akola soon.

Nazmi rejected the claim that the MIM is anti-National or against the Hindus. He said the MIM had donated about eighty lakh (eight million) rupees for Amarnath victims, and a huge sum and relief materials for Uttarakhand landslide and flood victims.

He said the MIM has always been at the forefront for raising the issues concerning the OBCs, Dalits and other neglected classes along with the issues of the Muslim community.

He also said the MIM had given Hyderabad three non-Muslim mayors, and many of its corporators are non-Muslims.

The MIM is attracting headlines ever since it won two seats - one in Mumbai and the other in Aurangabad, in the recently held Maharashtra assembly elections. The party has also announced its decision to contest the Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal assembly elections besides participating in Mumbai civic polls.

The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Lalu Prasad Yadav and Congress MLA Shinde have accused the MIM of dividing the secular votes. They have also accused the MIM of working to help the BJP.
