Lucknow: Unable to attend the party's state convention to be held at Sidharth Nagar in Uttar Pradesh, Asaduddin Owaisi, Hyderabad MP and the All India Majils-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president, will address the party workers over video call.
According to the AIMIM sources in Uttar Pradesh, no specific reason has been given for Asaduddin Owaisi's absence from the party convention to be held on December 31 at Sidharth Nagar. But, the senior Owaisi known for fiery speeches will not disappoint the party workers.
"He will address the party workers via video conference. Besides addressing the workers, he will also take direct questions from them", the sources said while talking to ummid.com.
Party workers from more than 20 districts of Uttar Pradesh are expected to attend the AIMIM Sidharth Nagar convention. The aim is to strengthen the party at booth level, the sources said.
The party had earlier held rallies in different parts of the state but Asaduddin Owaisi was not allowed yo address these rallies.
The AIMIM led by Asaduddin Owaisi since one-and-half years is working to strengthen the party in Uttar Pradesh. In order to develop grassroots support and build party cadre in the state which will go to poll in early 2017, the AIMIM ran membership drive in the state.
The AIMIM workers had actively involved in the recently held panchayat elections. Some of the candidates, mainly in Azamgarh district, who werer supported by the AIMIM also won the polls.
Based in Hyderabad, the AIMIM is trying to expand its wings in other states. Recently the party contested assembly elections in Bihar and Maharashtra. Though it could not win in Bihar, it was able to win two seats in Maharashtra.
