New South Wales: Australian Jihad Dib becoming the state's first Muslim MP after being elected to represent Lakemba, in New South Wales. Dib replaces former Lakemba Labor MP Rob Furolo.
The seat has the highest proportion of Muslim residents in NSW with 34.6 per cent.
The former director of a school was chosen, to be a candidate for the seat of Lakemba by the Australian Labor Party, which is one of the main strongholds party in the Western Sydney.
MP Dib has won a landslide victory over his rivals in that district inhabited by the intensity of the Muslims community, achieving nearly 69 percent of the votes.
Dib has become after this victory the first Muslim to represent Lakemba, which has the highest proportion of Islamic residents at 34.6 per cent.
Dib who's parent emigrated from Lebanon in the seventies said at the eve of the announcement of the results serving Australia is a huge advantage, pointing out that he will be at the service of all Australians and that his election represents a historic step in the state.
