Asaduddin Owaisi's name figures in FIR due to clerical mistake: Police

A case has been booked against Hyderabad MP and President of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) Asaduddin Owaisi for posting a morphed image of local BJP leader and MP Yogi Adityanath on a Facebook page, according to FIR registered by Gorakhpur police.

However, when contacted, Senior Superintendent of Police Luv Kumar said no case has been registered against Asaduddin Owaisi, according to the media reports.

On being asked that the Owaisi’s name was mentioned in the copy of the FIR available with the media, he said it might have happened due to clerical mistake.

Despite, the claim made by the police, there has been no changes made in the FIR till now.

According to the FIR, Ram Bhual Kushwaha, the city in-charge of Hindu Yuva Vahini, registered a complaint with the police alleging that Asaduddin Owaisi and Mohammed Sultan had posted objectionable picture of Yogi Adityanath on Facebook.

The FIR was lodged at Rajghat police station under section 153(A) of IPC (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) and section 66 A of IT Act.

The complainant alleged that a picture of Adityanath was distorted, made objectionable and posted on “I Support Asaduddin Owaisi” page of social networking site on May 20.

He said that the post was shared by Mohd Sultan last night.

Earlier, an FIR was lodged against his younger brother and AIMIM legislator in Telangana Akbaruddin Owaisi, for allegedly making an inflammatory speech at an election rally in Kishanganj district of Bihar.

Akbaruddin Owaisi had allegedly used derogatory language against Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the Kishanganj rally.
