Islamabad: Out on bail in a money-smuggling case, Pakistani Supermodel Ayyan Ali has now decided to turn to religion and she is now reportedly in contact with a popular Tablighi Jamaat member to seek counselling on how she can become a practicing Muslim.
According to the local media reports, Ayyan Ali has contacted Tariq Jamil, a popular member Tablighi Jamaat, requesting him to guide her so that she is on the right path.
The reports said Ayyan Ali was in tears when she spoke to Tariq Jamil on phone. Tariq Jamil is currently in Makkah for Haj, and Ayyan Ali made contact with him with the help of a common friend.
Ayyan Ali was jailed while she was caught carrying a half-million dollars in cash in her suitcase when she was stopped in Islamabad Airport in March 2015. The amount of cash one person is permitted to take out of Pakistan is limited to $10,000.
The Dubai-born 21-year-old was however granted bail by a Lahore court before leaving a high-security jail in Rawalpindi, south of Islamabad, in July 2015.
The media reports said Ayyan Ali while talking to Tariq Jamil said she had read translation of Surah Tauba of the Holy Quran while in jail and it was then she had decided to shun showbiz and turn to religion.
It is expected that Ayyan Ali will meet Tariq Jamil in person when he returns to Pakistan after Haj.
Earlier, actress Veena Malik had confessed in an interview that her meeting with Tariq Jamil had changed her life, and that she is now a devout Muslim after this meeting.
Veena Malik has since then quit the film indiustry and is now living a happy life away from showbiz after marrying a Dubai based Pakistani businessman.
