Arafat (Saudi Arabia): Saudi Arabia’s Grand Mufti and Chairman of the Senior Scholars Commission and Ifta Council Sheikh Abdul Aziz Al Asheikh warned that the enemies of Islam are plotting against Islam and its followers with an ulterior motive of destroying the Islamic Ummah and eliminating its entity.
In his Arafat sermon, the grand mufti urged the Muslims to stand united in defeating the extremists who are doing big harm to the image of Islam.
He said that the guidance into the fold of Islam is the greatest of all the blessings Allah bestowed on Muslims. All our praise and prayers to God seem quite insufficient while comparing to the greatness of this blessing, he said.
“Islam is the origin of our life, source of our happiness, medicine for our wounds, and healing for our disease. Makkah and Madinah attained their majesty and greatness only because of Islam and revelation of the divine message of Qur’an, and hence these cities are unique in their features and specialties,” he said.
The grand mufti urged the younger generation not to fall into the trap of enemies who try to lure them into the fold of deviant ideology.
“The words of enemies are contrary to their deeds with killing of the innocent people, raping women, violating modesty and looting properties. They are criminal gangs who strayed away from Islam, and hence Islam is nothing to do with them,” he said.
The grand mufti underlined the need for disseminating the true image of Islam as a religion of peace, justice, mercy and compassion.
“The enemies of Islam include those outside Dar Al-Islam (abode of Islam), and enemies within, wearing the dress of Islam falsely and shouting slogans in the defense of the Islamic Ummah. But these people are deceiving the ignorant and ordinary people with their evil and malicious designs, and it is evident from this that they want only the disintegration of the Ummah,” he said.
Al Asheikh also vehemently criticized the devisive designs of Houthi rebels in Yemen.
“Houthis are a deviant group who are hostile toward Muslims with what they are doing from spreading of chaos in the land of Islam so as to enable the enemies of Islam to exploit their wealth and well-being, in addition to threatening the security of neighbors", he said.
“They are abusing and cursing the Companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) and disbelieved in the Caliphs of Abu Bakr and Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) from their pulpits and in their gatherings. They also targeted Aisha, the Mother of Believers, with their lies and slander,” he added.
