Jeddah: The 13th Islamic Summit Conference, being held on April 14-15 in the Turkish city of Istanbul, will approve the establishment of a center for cooperation and coordination between police organizations.
"The decision has been taken in order to combat terrorism and violent extremism as well as cross-border and organized crime", an OIC source told the International Islamic News Agency (IINA).
Turkey proposed that the center, which will be an affiliated organ of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC), to be based in the city of Istanbul, the same source said.
It added that the OIC General Secretariat will be entrusted to convene an open-ended meeting of governmental experts in both legal and security fields, to complete the draft statute for the center.
