Aurangabad: At least 13 people including five children and three women were burnt alive as fire swept a row of houses, including one hosting a marriage party, in a village in Bihar's Aurangabad district, police said.
The incident took place at a marriage function at Daudnagar tehsil's Tarar village, where Jata Ram's kin, who had come to attend the marriage of his son, were taking rest in the afternoon when the fire broke out and killed 13 people, including Jata Ram.
The Bihar Government announced a compensation of Rs. 4 lakh each to next of kin to the victims.
Union minister of state for HRD and Karakat MP Upendra Kushwaha also visited the village and consoled the villagers.
