New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared online the results of 2016 Compartmental Exam of Class X (Class 10th) today i.e. Friday August 12, 2016 on its official website. Inerested candidates can log in to the CBSE official result site and check their result.

Once on this page, candidates should follow the steps given below to check their results.

The CBSE had earlier said the results of the 2016 Compartmental Exam of Class X (Class 10th) would be declared in the third week of August. "The result of the Class 10 (Class X) Compartmental Examination 2016 is likely to be declared in the third week of August, 2016", the CBSE is said in an official notification.
"This is only a probable date for declaration of result. No enquiries about the actual date of declaration of result will be attended to", it added.
The results were however released today - a week in advance than the announced expected schedule.
The CBSE had similarly released the results of 2016 Compartmental Exam of Class XII (Class 12th) a week in advance. The 12th Compartmental Exam results were sopposed to be declaredin second week of August. They were however declared in the first week i.e. on August 05, 2016.
The Class X Compartmental Examination 2016 for all subjects was held on July 16 to July 23, 2016. In addition to theory examination, practical examination was also held for the candidates who had failed in practical in a subject involving practical.
Likewise, the Class XII Compartmental Examination 2016 for all subjects was held on July 16, 2016. The CBSE declared the results of Class XII Compartmental Examination 2016 on August 05, 2016.
The CBSE conducts Compartmental or Supplementary exams for Class XII as well as Class X every year for the candidates who are failed or have got E1/E2 grade in the annual examination conducted in the month of February/March.
As per the CBSE rules, a candidate failing in one of the five subjects of external examination is placed in Compartment in that subject provided he or she qualifies in all the subjects of internal assessment.
A candidate placed in Compartment examination may reappear at the Compartmental examination held in July the same year, may avail second chance in March/April and third chance in July of next year.
The candidate will be declared ‘PASS’ provided he or she qualifies the compartmental subjects in which she had failed. Syllabi and Courses are the same as applicable for the candidates of full subjects appearing at the examination in the year concerned.
A candidate who fails to appear or fails at one or all the chances of the Compartment examination is treated to have failed in the examination and is required to reappear in all the subjects at the subsequent annual examination of the Board as per syllabi and courses laid down for the examination concerned in order to pass the examination.
The candidates’ practical marks/internal assessment marks obtained in the Main examination will be carried over till the third chance compartmental examination.
