The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has been playing politics in the name of animal slaughter and also makes it an issue in every election. Hence speculations were rife in the media that the newly formed Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) will take immediate against slaughter houses or order their closure on top priority.
Taking illegal slaughterhouses into account was also a key poll promise made by Bharatiya Janata Party in its election campaign. In a rally addressed in Maharajganj, party vowed to shut illegal slaughter houses in the state.
“Instead of blood of cattle, there will be streams of milk and ghee flowing throughout the state,” Shah had said.
Interestingly on one side the BJP opposes animal slaughter on the other its government sanctions establishment of new slaughter houses. Recently, the Ministry of Food Processing Industries had admitted in the parliament that the Modi government has sanctioned 38 modern slaughter houses under special scheme.
Contrary to the general perception that Muslims are involved in animal slaughter, a recent study by ummid.com has shown that major benefits of the animal slaughter business go to non-Muslims. And, after a ban by BJP-led government in Maharshtra the Hindus are opposing the decision not the Muslims.
It is also reported that meat export is flourishing ever since the BJP has taken the New Delhi government in its control. Some high profile BJP leaders are also said to be active in the trade. Prime Minister Modi too had earlier admitted that his Jain friends are associated with beef export business.
