Alwar (Rajasthan): Self-styled godman Sant Kaushlendra Falahari Maharaj, an accused in a rape case, who is alleged to have links with top BJP leaders, has been arrested by the Rajasthan police on Saturday soon after he was discharged from a hospital.
Earlier, when the investigating officer reached to interrogate the "Saint" popular as Falahari Baba at his Alwar Ashram, he got himself admitted in the hospital complaining of intestine infection. Since then, policemen were stationed outside the hospital and waiting for the baba’s discharge.
A 21-year old girl had lodged a zero FIR against the Falahari baba at Bilaspur police station in Chhattisgarh state.
According to the FIR, the alleged crime had taken place on August 7 in Alwar, when the victim had visited Alwar Ashram to offer the first salary she had earned from her internship.
Falahari baba had asked her to stay in the Ashram for the night. Then he asked the girl to come to his room, where he allegedly raped her.
After raping the girl, the Falahari baba also threatened her not to disclose anything as he had connections with top politicians and cops.
Initially, the girl and her family, who were following the baba since last 15 years, were reluctant to approach the police, but after the conviction and sentencing of Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, they decided to file a complaint against the Falahari baba.
The girl said she was inspired by the rape victims in Gurmeent Singh Ram Raheem case and it was they who gave her the needed courage to file the case against Falahari baba.
Meanwhile, Falahari baba's photgraphs with top BJP leaders are widely circulated by social media users ever since report of his arrests in the rape case was made public.
The photographs of Gurmeet Ram Raheem with BJP leaders were circulated on the similar lines after his conviction in the rape case.
Few years ago, photographs of the BJP leaders with some of the accused in the Malegaon terror case were also published in the media.
