The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) had conducted UGC NET 2018 on July 08 as per the revised and new scheme. According to the HRD announcement earlier this is the last UGC NET conducted by the CBSE. Henceforth UGC NET and other competitive exams will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA).

As per the exam schedule released by National Testing Agency (NTA) the next UGC NET exam will be held in the month of December. Hence it is widely believed that the CBSE UGC NET July 2018 exam result will be declared by first week of August.

"The CBSE is working towards releasing the UGC NET results by end of this month, and most likely on July 31, 2018, if all goes as planned. However, it is confirmed that the UGC NET result will be declared latest by August 4, which will be within one month on the conduct of the exam," a source told Times of India.

The CBSE UGC NET for all three papers were held on Sunday July 08, 2018. It was conducted in 84 subjects in 90 cities and 2082 centres across the country.

As per the revised scheme, the test consisted of two papers: "Paper-I consisted 50 objective type compulsory questions each carrying 2 marks. The questions were of general nature, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate. It was primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate", according to the CBSE revised scheme.

"Paper-II consisted 100 objective type compulsory questions each carrying 2 marks which will be based on the subject selected by the candidate", it said.

The CBSE conducts UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) two times in a year to determine the eligibility of candidates for the posts assistant professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). Candidates who qualify for the JRF are eligible to pursue research in the subject of their post-graduation or in a related subject and are also eligible to apply for the post of an assistant professor in Indian universities and colleges.

The award of JRF and eligibility for assistant professor’s post depends on the performance of the candidate in all the three papers of NET. However, candidates qualifying exclusively for an assistant professor are not considered for JRF.

Candidates who have scored at least 55% in their master’s degree are eligible for NET.
