Students stage violent protest outside Patna's Aeronautics Institute
Saturday August 14, 2010 09:35:33 AM, ANI
Patna: The students of the Indian Institute of Aeronautics (IIA) staged a violent protest in Patna on Friday, condemning the apathetic attitude of the college administration.
Their main grouse was over the institute's administration turning a blind eye to their placement on completion of their course.
Raising anti-administration slogans, the students went on rampage damaging the institute's property.
They even stormed the car of the principal refusing to let him enter unless their plea is heard.
The irate students clashed with the police personnel, who were summoned to control the protest.
The students cited instances of their seniors working at the Patna Airport sans any monetary compensation.
"We have been told that we will be getting placement. But in the name of placements we end up getting nothing. You can go and check for yourself in the adjacent airport," said Suraj, a student.
"Our seniors are working there from morning to evening without getting any salary. The institute head also uses abusive language while talking to us," he added.
The students also condemned the cold response of the administration citing the uncivilized behaviour of the principal and the faculty members.
"The principal hardly entertains us, and in turn just resorts to abusive language. Whether it is the Chief Instructor, Deputy Chief Instructor or the training manager, no one talks to us properly," said Rituraj, another student.
"No one pays any heed to our problems. There are a lot of problems we are facing," he added.
The college administration on its part, however, refused to comment on the issue and instead castigated the media for appeasing the students and their demands. (ANI)
