Jannat Husain named Andhra Pradesh CIC
Thursday, July 01, 2010 09:39:17 PM, Agencies
Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government today decided to appoint Jannat Husain, an IAS officer of the rank of special chief secretary as the next Chief Information Commissioner of the state.
A three-member committee comprising Chief Minister K Rosaiah, Naidu and Information Minister J Geeta Reddy met here today to select the new CIC in place of incumbent C D Arha who demits office tomorrow.
Husain, a 1977-batch IAS officer, is currently posted as the Special Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister and is due for retirement on December 31 this year. He was born in a farmer’s house in Siddharthnagar, Uttar Pradesh. An untiring struggle led him to a position which is a distant dream for 98 percent of the Muslim population in India.
During the last 26 years, he has held many important posts in various departments of Andhra Pradesh and has left indelible impressions everywhere.
A formal order over Husain's appointment will be issued after the Governor clears the file, official sources said.
"Jannat is involved in all the government decision-making process in the last six years as the Principal Secretary to the CM.
