Lucknow: The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court which had reserved its judgement in the Ram Janmbhoomi-Babri Masjid title suits, today asked counsel of the concerned parties to contact OSD of the court if there is a possibility of compromise before delivery of the verdict.

The special full bench comprising Justices S U Khan, Sudhir Agarwal and D V Sharma said, "Counsel of the concerning parties are at complete liberty to contact the OSD for formation of a bench until delivery of judgement, in case some possibility of compromise emerges".

The bench today discussed the possibility of amicable settlement of the dispute with different counsel and observed that "at present nothing substantial has emerged". After 60 years of filing the first suit related to Ayodhya matter, the Lucknow bench had yesterday completed the hearing and reserved the verdict which would now be delivered in the second half of September.

The first suit was filed in 1950 by Gopal Singh Visharad, seeking injunction for permission of offering ''Puja'' (worship) of Lord Ram at the place in question in Ayodhya. The second suit was filed by Paramhans Ramchandra Das, also in 1950, seeking same relief but this suit was withdrawn.

The third suit was filed in 1959 by Nirmohi Akhara, seeking direction to handover the charge of alleged place from the receiver. The fourth suit was filed in 1961 by U P Sunni Central Board of Waqfas for declaration and possession.

The fifth suit was filed on July 1, 1989 in the name of Bhagwan Shree Ram Lalla Virajman through his next friend for declaration and possession. As suit Number 2 was already withdrawn, four title suits were in existence.

These suits were pending in Faizabad civil court and in the 1989 and on an application moved by then advocate general of UP, these suits were transferred to the High court.
