Malegaon:
An Indian expatriate who was working with a Sharjah based
construction company died in Abu Dhabi November 05. His body could
be brought to India only on November 13 after the efforts of full
eight days taken by the family members and fellow expatriates in
UAE.
Ansari Zulfikar Ahamd (40) of
Malegaon was working in Emirate Construction Company (ECC) since last more than five years. He
died due to cardiac arrest last Friday in the night, informed
Saood Ansari, Zulfikar's younger brother.
They were informed about Zulfikar's
death the following morning on November 06 by the company Manager
Abdus Sattar,
he added.
Zulfikar is survived by wife and two
children - one aged 3 and half years, and the other of one year,
besides father, younger brother and two sisters.
After deliberations among the family
members, it was decided to bring the dead body from Abu Dhabi for
funeral here in Malegaon. However, it was only after eight days
and immense difficulties the family members faced that the dead
body finally reached Mumbai November 13 early in the morning.
"Had it not been for the
unprecedented efforts taken by the other people from Malegaon who
are working in UAE, we would have not been able to perform
Zulfikar's funeral here", said Saood in a choked voice.
"The company PRO and Manager
extended full support. But, they are Uzair Ahmed, Iqbal Ansari,
Abdur Raqueeb and others who tirelessly worked to get all the
requisite documents done for the deportation of the body from Abu
Dhabi to India", he said.
However, waiting for the dead body
for such a long time was really testing and traumatic for the
family members specially Zulfikar's wife.
"It would be of great help if there
is some kind of mechanism and support system at the embassy level
to handle such kind of eventuality", said Mohd Salik, Zulfikar's
cousin who was literally hooked to telephone for the entire week
trying to get the early deportation of the dead body from UAE.
The Gulf countries are among the few
countries in the world where a large number of Indians have
migrated for work and such a demand has been raised in the past as
well.
