An assistant director attached to the employees provident fund (EPF)
was Tuesday caught by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)
while accepting a bribe of Rs.25,000, an official said here.
According to a CBI official, M.K. Farde was caught while accepting
a bribe from a human resource firm, which was seeking watering
down of charges against it which the official was probing.
"The raid was conducted using a decoy today (Tuesday) afternoon
after we received a complaint from the company that Farde was
demanding bribe from them," the CBI official said, adding that the
officer's phone was also tapped as part of the operation.
"The company had defaulted in depositing its share of the
provident fund in accounts of its employees," he said.
Officials also said that while an offence was registered under the
Prevention of Corruption Act, Farde had not been formally arrested
yet.
