New Delhi:
"Galli Galli Sim Sim", the Indian version of the internationally
acclaimed popular children series "Sesame Street", is back with a
new season and this time it will focus on socio-emotional
development of kids.
"'Sesame...' has always tried to instil good qualities in children
through positive role modelling. This new season will also see
muppets interacting with each other to resolve problems and
resonate feelings of joy and happiness and help children
understand the importance of relationships," Sashwati Banerjee,
executive director, Sesame Workshop India, told IANS.
The stories and adventures in the new season aim at making
children conscious of the environment and their habitat and health
as well as teamwork.
"The new season of 'Galli Galli Sim Sim' has been divided into
three segments. The first segment will be 'Gali Ki Duniya', which
willl not only focus on building cognitive skills of children, but
also their socio-emotional development.
"The children will get to learn about how to take care of others,
they'll learn about the importance of emotions, caring about
environment, health and hygiene.
"The second segment will be Word of Day. Vocabulary plays an
important part in life. Every day children will be exposed to new
words that will help them improve their vocabulary. The third
segment will expose children to the rich cultural diversity of
India," she added.
