Kolkata: More than
80 percent voters exercised their franchise as voting came to a
close in 50 constituencies spread over three districts in the
second phase of West Bengal assembly polls Saturday.
"Above 80 percent of polling has been recorded. The figure will go
up as many people had queued up at the booths when the scheduled
time of polling got over at 5 p.m.," said Dibyendu Sarkar, state
joint chief electoral officer.
A record 84.11 percent turnout was witnessed in the first phase of
polls covering 54 constituencies in north Bengal April 18.
