New Delhi: Basking in
a riot of colours, the Mughal Gardens at the Rashtrapati Bhavan
with a wide variety of flowers, lotus-shaped fountains and blue
water canals will be thrown open to the public for a month from
Tuesday.
The gardens will open to the public till March 16 on all days from
10 a.m. to 5 p.m. except for Mondays on account of maintenance.
The entry will be restricted in the lawns after 4 p.m.
The rectangular Mughal Gardens were designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens
and are adjacent to the main Rashtrapati Bhavan building.
They are spread over 15 acres with wide variety of greens,
multitude of colourful flowers like roses, lilies and tulips,
lotus-shaped fountains and blue water canals.
The visitors will not be allowed to carry water bottles,
briefcases, handbags, purses, umbrella, cameras, radios, mobile
phones, arms and ammunition and eatables for security reasons.
The entry and exit to the gardens will be from gate number 35 of
the President's Estate, which is located near North Avenue at the
extreme end of Church Road, about 300 metres west of the Cathedral
Church of the Redemption.
