New Delhi:
Human Resource Development Minister (HRD) Kapil Sibal Thursday
launched a website to give National School Sanitation Ratings,
which will recognise the schools taking significant steps towards
effective sanitation, a statement said.
Giving out ideas to improve sanitation in schools, Sibal suggested
to mark one day every week as the day for teachers and staff to
use student's toilets.
"The minister suggested that staff toilets in schools should be
closed for at least one day in a week and all the teachers should
use the toilets meant for students so that they are appreciative
of the state of toilets used by students," an HRD ministry
official said.
The ratings would also give national recognition to those schools
which are taking significant steps towards effective sanitation
and improvement in service delivery.
In furtherance of the National School Sanitation Initiative, all
the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) schools will be
rated according to their sanitation status in five colour
categories.
