New Delhi: Child
labour in India generates more than Rs.120,000 crore annually as
black money, NGO Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA) said here Sunday on
World Anti-Child Labour Day.
"If adult workers were employed in place of children, then the
employers would have to pay more than Rs.7,000 per month as wages
instead of a paltry of Rs.80. This difference immediately becomes
black money, amounting to roughly Rs.120,000 crore," said BBA
founder Kailash Satyarthi.
The preliminary findings of the report "Capital Corruption" by the
BBA has been prepared while calculating the number of child
labourers in the country.
"The report draws attention to the six crore children who are
generating more than Rs.120,000 crore rupees within India. There
is no other open source of generating such a huge amount of black
money than trafficking and employment of children," Satyarthi
added.
