New Delhi:
A three member delegation seeking urgent intervention of the
national commission for protection of child rights (NCPCR) met its
chairperson, Prof. Shantha Sinha, here June 14 afternoon. The
delegation led by Mahtab Alam, member of the Committee for Justice
to Forbesganj Police Firing Victims and comprised of Mansi Sharma,
Indian Social Action Forum (INSAF) and Sohaib Ahmed, Jamia
Teachers’ Solidarity Association (JTSA) submitted a written
complaint to the Commission.
Accepting the complaint, Prof. Sinha said, “I am shocked to know
the details of the killings. It is really disturbing.”
Ensuring
her part of action, she promised to write the Government of Bihar
asking explanation of the killings and report on the actions taken
so far.
“I will write to the government today itself and get back
to you at the earliest,” she promised. She was equally surprised
over the total black out of the news by national and mainstream
media.
The delegation in its complaint has requested, “Given the gravity
of the situation and involvement of children in the incident, we
seek your urgent intervention in to the matter. Hope you will use
your good offices and mandate to ensure justice to the victims of
Forbesganj police firing”.
The Committee for Justice to Forbesganj
Police Firing will be also meeting to the Chairpersons of the
National Commission for Women as well as the National Commission
for Backward Classes, in coming days.
On 3rd of June Five (including the unborn baby) people, a woman
and an infant were killed in police firing in Forbesganj block of
Ariara district of Bihar. Naushad Ansari, s/o Tahine Khatoon and
Siddiq Ansari –age 7 months, was in his mother’s lap as she was
returning from the Hospital. He received two bullets in his back
and Naushad died. Shazmin Khatoon, w/o Farukh Ansari, 27 yrs, was
also killed in the firing. She was 6 months pregnant. She got 6
bullets; four bullets were in the head. Her brain came out. Her
skull was broken with rifle butts while she lay on the ground.
Shazmin has left behind her 3 small children. Many of the injured
also include children.
On Monday a number of Activists, Students and Teachers staged a
protest at Bihar Bhawan here against the police firing and
demanded Time bound judicial probe and arrest of Police personnel.
They also submitted memorandum to the Governor of Bihar through
the resident commissioner seeking his urgent intervention in to
the matter.
