Two dead at German airport after attack on US army bus

Frankfurt: Two people died at Frankfurt airport Wednesday when a man from Kosovo attacked a bus carrying US soldiers, German police said.

The driver of the bus and one of the soldiers were reportedly killed. At least one other person on the bus, also thought to be a soldier, was seriously injured in the attack.

The exact sequence of events was still unclear in the hours after the incident, police said.

"It looks like everything happened inside the bus," police spokesman Juergen Linker told DPA.

The number of people aboard the bus and the nature of the weapon involved was also not immediately clear. The suspect was said to probably also have had a knife.

Police arrested the 21-year-old, they reported, adding that it was not clear whether the attack had terrorist motives.

The shots were fired around 3:20 p.m. (1420 GMT) on a bus lane in the public part of Terminal 2 at the large international airport.
