Ranchi: A teenaged
girl was raped and burnt alive in Jharkhand's Hazaribagh district
early Saturday, police said.
According to police, the 16-year-old girl was alone in her home at
Vishnugarh village as her parents had gone to attend a marriage in
a nearby village.
She was sleeping when some people barged into the house, raped her
and set her on fire.
The neighbours came to know of the incident when they spotted the
fire in the house.
"Initially, it appears that she was killed after being raped to
destroy the evidence. We are trying to find the people involved in
the incident. At least two people could be involved in the
incident," a police official told IANS, adding that the criminals
must have been aware her parents were not at home.
