Raipur: Searches at
the houses of a Chhattisgarh government official and of his bank
locker have revealed that he has illegally amassed property to the
tune of over Rs.6 crore, sources in the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB)
said Saturday.
"The ACB had raided the (residential) locations of R.K. Trivedi,
an additional commissioner in the commercial taxes department,
Friday and opened his bank locker Saturday. And after analysing
all documents, the ACB has a view that the officer has
disproportionate assets of over Rs.6 crore," a senior ACB official
who wanted his name be withheld told IANS.
He said that illegal property assets of Trivedi may cross more
than the current estimated figure of about Rs.6 crore once the
total documents and investment papers seized in raids are
analysed. This may take about a week more.
The ACB team found gold coins worth Rs.3.66 lakh from the
officer's bank locker at the State Bank of India branch here. The
officer has land plots in prime localities in several parts of the
state, and also owns two petrol pumps and at least four luxurious
houses.
