Pakistan launches Halal Food Accreditation Scheme

Islamabad: The government of Pakistan has launched Halal Food Accreditation Scheme which will help boost country’s exports of food items.

Addressing a recent news conference in the National capital, Minister for Science and Technology Changez Khan Jamali said Pakistan Quality Standards Control Authority with active association of OIC and after detailed deliberation with religious scholars, certification bodies and other stakeholders has developed Halal Standard called as 4992:2010.

He said Halal Market is emerging at a rapid pace and covers a wide range of food and non-food products, like pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, healthcare, toiletries and other non-consumables estimated to have global value of 2.77 trillion dollars.
