Ramallah: Two
Palestinians were wounded as dozens clashed with Israeli soldiers
Saturday in front of an Israeli prison near the West Bank city of Ramallah, witnesses said.
Israeli soldiers used tear gas, in addition to rubber bullets, to
repress the demonstrators, leaving 13 suffering from the gas, the
witnesses added, reported Xinhua.
The demonstrators gathered in solidarity with Khader Adnan, a
Palestinian hunger striker since he was arrested without a charge
on Dec 17, 2011.
The protesters threw rocks at the Israeli soldiers and called for
the release of Adnan, who is an Islamic Jihad official.
Ziad Abu Ein of the prisoners' affairs ministry warned that
Adnan's life might be at risk after 56 days on hunger strike.
He added that the Palestinian National Authority holds intensive
contacts with Arab and international sides to press Israel to
release Adnan.
International rights groups urged Israel to either release or
charge Adnan.
