Abuja: At least 20
people have been killed and many others seriously injured in
attacks on villagers in Nigeria's Plateau State, said a top
government official.
A total of 20 people were killed Friday night in Barkinladi local
government area by some unidentified gunmen who invaded nine
villages of the locality in Gashik district, Xinhua quoted Gyang
Fulani, majority leader of the State Assembly as saying.
The lawmaker said the casualties might increase, as many people
had been hospitalised following the attack.
The casualties might be high, as the attackers' numbering about
100 were reportedly using dangerous weapons during the mayhem,
said Captain Salisu Mustapha, spokesperson for the Special
Task-force (STF).
