Mumbai: The
Maharashtra assembly's monsoon session got off to a stormy start
Monday with the opposition creating a ruckus over various issues
,including the state secretariat fire and Adarsh Housing Society
scam.
Even before the proceedings could begin, the opposition members of
the lower as well as the upper houses started raising slogans,
waving posters and banners and marched towards a statue of
Chhatrapati Shivaji.
After legislators assembled amid commotion in both the houses, the
opposition demanded a discussion on various issues, including the
June 21 Mantralaya blaze that destroyed a large portion of the
upper floors of the seven-storied building.
As the uproar continued in the assembly, it was adjourned twice
for 15 minutes each and later for an hour.
